Homebuilding Process

Home. It's where you spend your days with loved ones and and build memories that will last a lifetime. Your home should also be a reflection of who you are. Building a home from the ground up means building a home that's uniquely yours.

1

Initial Consultation

During this initial meeting with the J. Alan team, you can expect a conversation outlining general expectations along with desires regarding floor plan, home features, and construction budget. It is helpful to have acquired or be in the process of acquiring a home-site before the initial consultation. This is something that we are more than happy to assist with by scheduling and conducting on-site walks with you. During these walks we can answer any questions you may have or discuss any ideas you have for the home site.

2

Design & Selections

Whether you have design ideas or looking for inspiration from a home building expert, our team is here to provide an engaging, hands-on experience, while also ensuring that your new dream home fits within your budget and style. During these meetings, we will review J. Alan Homes' library of flexible and coastal inspired home plans and discuss all the ideas you would like to see incorporated in your new home. We encourage our clients to bring any inspirational photos or renderings they may have so that we can best understand your dream home. Once the plan and budget are agreed upon, you'll visit the J. Alan design center, where you will choose your color selections that truly make your home unique to you.

3

Contract & Financing

Once the design of your home has been finalized, contract documents will be provided for your review. Upon approval, a copy of all documents will be shared with you, our construction manager, and your financing institution for loan approval (if applicable).

4

Permitting & Building

Once your loan has been approved (if applicable), permits received, our construction team will schedule a "pre-construction" meeting then the building process will commence. During the construction process you will meet with the construction manager again for a "pre-drywall" meeting at the homesite to ensure design and plan details are built according to the contract documents.

5

Orientation & Move-In

Once a certificate of occupancy is issued, an orientation walk through meeting will take place providing an opportunity for you to learn how your new home operates and identify items that may need to be adjusted before you will move into your new dream home. Rest assured that you are covered by a professional builder warranty. This warranty covers mechanical, plumbing, and electrical defects for 2 years and structural defects for an 8 year period. All other areas of your home are covered by a 1-year limited warranty through J. Alan Homes and standard manufacturer warranties as applicable.
